War heroes remembered in a new way in Boynton Beach

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. - War heroes are being remembered in a new way in Boynton Beach.

Community leaders unveiled a Purple Heart memorial at the city's Veterans Park.

The Purple Heart is a medal given to military members hurt in combat.

Organizers say the memorial is a way to thank the people who gave so much fighting for the United States.

"They did more than I did, they got hurt, they spilled blood. Thank God I didn't spill any blood, but they got it," said Bob Livingston who donated money to the memorial.

Also at Wednesday’s ceremony were representatives from France who awarded 9 World War II veterans the Legion of Honor.

It’s the country's highest award and the vets earned it for fighting in France during the war.
