Stranded great white shark dies on Cape Cod despite efforts from hundreds of beachgoers

WELLFLEET, Mass. - (NBC) - A great white shark that washed ashore on a beach in Massachusetts on Sunday died despite rescue attempts by hundreds of people.

Video shows scores of people rushing to the shark's aid.

Rescuers poured water on the shark and dug a trench to try and free it from the sand.

Despite getting the shark back into the water, the great white died.

According to eyewitnesses, the shark was about 10 to 15 feet long.
