(WECT, NBC NEWSCHANNEL)  When Antonio Beatty made his first court appearance in Wilmington, North Carolina this week on a murder charge he didn’t show any remorse. In fact, during his appearance, Beatty stared at and smiled in the direction of the victim's family and then stuck his tongue out at them as he was being led out of the courtroom.

Beatty  is accused of killing Carlton Whitley in July.

"I feel like justice needs to be served. He don't care obviously, he showed that hisself (sic) in court that he don't care, that he don't have no remorse for what he did, and he needs to be charged, he needs to go down for this; this is not right, he took my daughter's father from her, she don't deserve that and then you gonna stick your tongue out at 5-month-old? She is a baby," the victim’s fiancée Octavia Bryant said.

Beatty will be appointed an attorney. He could face the death penalty.
