A rescue dog who worked at the World Trade Center site after 9/11 returned to New York City this week for an unforgettable birthday party.

Denise Corliss and her dog and work partner Bretagne were part of Texas Task Force 1, a search and rescue team.  Their first-ever deployment was to lower Manhattan Sept. 11, 2001.

"I was just so grateful to have a canine partner that helped me get through it," said Corliss.

Now, as the last living rescue dog who worked at Ground Zero, she returned to New York for a much different experience, a 16th birthday party blowout thanks to the folks at BarkBox.

Bretagne got a VIP airport greeting and limousine ride to a decked-out suite overlooking Central Park complete with room service.

She also participated in some playtime near One World Trade Center and finally had a big birthday bash filled with presents and treats.

It was a fittingly-generous celebration for a dog that’s given so much to others.
