Andrew Swenson: Cause of death determined for Jensen Beach High School graduate

JENSEN BEACH, Fla. - The Broward Medical Examiner’s office has confirmed the cause of death for a Treasure Coast teenager who died following a concert in Ft. Lauderdale over the summer.

A toxicology report revealed Andrew Swenson, 19, died as a result of complications from Methylenedioxyamphetamine toxicity. The rave drug is similar to ecstasy, according to Sal Recco, a chemistry supervisor at Indian River State College.

In early August, Swenson was found by police in Fort Lauderdale wandering the streets near Revolution Live after the Mad Decent Block Party.

His mother reported him missing when a friend of his returned home without Swenson.

Police took him to the hospital where he later died.

Swenson graduated from Jensen Beach High School in 2014 and was attending college at the University of North Florida.
