Michael Sears' family: No amount of money is worth taking a life

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla-- As new details continue to emerge in the murder and apparent cover up of Michael Sears, for the first time we are hearing from his grieving family.

Dellon Sears is still trying to come to grips with his brother's murder.

"I'm always going to be in some sort of disbelief, as the holidays come, as the birthdays come," said Sears.

Wilted signs and flowers and once lit candles still mark the spot near where his brother's body was found.

"Michael was my best friend. He was the one I did everything with," said Sears.

Michael Sears went missing a month ago. He was found shot to death at the bottom of a West Palm Beach pond about a week later.

Now, the details of the murder and apparent cover up are coming to light. Three people have been charged in connection with the crime. Deputies say 17-year-old Michael Cadet shot and killed Michael Sears over a $10 dollar drug debt.

"There is no money in this world that is worth taking someone's life because it's just so final," said Sears.

Cadet's girlfriend and brother are also charged for their alleged roles in helping cover up the crime.

"I'm not angry. I guess it would be easy to be angry, but it's not going to change the scenario," said Sears.

Sears says his family is holding on to the happy memories, ones of a loving father, brother, son and husband. He says the family is doing its best move forward.

"Had I known he wasn't going to be around Friday afternoon, I would have sat there Thursday just talking to him forever until Friday passed."

Sears tells FOX 29  his family had no idea that Michael could have been involved with drugs. They held a memorial service for him earlier this month.
