PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. - A jury has found former Boynton Beach police officer Stephen Maiorino not guilty of rape, kidnapping and two other charges.

He was accused of raping a woman near Interstate 95 while on-duty last year.

The victim says the officer forced her to have sex on the hood of his car.

Maiorino claimed the sex was consensual. And during the trial the defense claimed there were too many inconsistencies in the victim’s story.

When the verdict was read an outburst of crying was heard in the courtroom.

Some were tears of joy and others of disappointment
