DELRAY BEACH, Fla. - Delray Beach leaders could be changing the times you feed the parking meters east of the IntraCoastal Waterway and along the beach.

One recommendation is to have the meters operate 24/7.

Currently drive have to pay the meters from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

The Parking Management Advisory Board is recommending having the meters run from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Sunday.

The finance department says the meters should operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

A 2012 study showed operating parking meters until 10 p.m. would put restaurants and shops on the barrier island at a disadvantage compared to businesses in downtown where there are no parking meters.

The city commission will discuss the issue during it's meeting Tuesday at 6 p.m. at City Hall.
