RICHMOND, Va. - (WWBT/NBC) - An unlikely friendship at a Virginia zoo has turned into a seemingly unbreakable bond.
Meet Kumbali the cheetah and Kago the dog.
The two have become the best of pals at the Metro Richmond Zoo.
The zoo adopted the now 4-month old cheetah cub after being separated from his mother. She didn't have enough milk to feed her whole litter.
After Kumbali was paired with Kago, the unlikely duo became inseparable.
Now, they can't go a minute without chasing, wrestling or mimicking each other.
Zoo director Jim Andelin says it would be difficult to reintroduce Kumbali to his family after so much time away from them.
"It would be difficult to put him back with his mom and the siblings because she would consider him a threat to the family," said Andelin.
