BOCA RATON, Fla. - The principal at Spanish River High School has canceled Friday's homecoming pep rally.

Two videos surfaced on social media this week showing Spanish River students in fights. One fight took place at the school. Another happened at a shopping center across the street.

In a letter sent to parents today, Principal William Latson cited "recent incidents" involving students from the Boca Raton high school, but did not link the fights directly to the his decision.

Latson wrote safety is a top priority, so the school is canceling the pep rally as a precaution.

The football game and homecoming dance will go on as scheduled, but with extra security from the school district police and the Boca Raton Police Services Department.

The principal said students involved in the incidents have been disciplined and a police investigation is underway.

There is a powder-puff football game scheduled for tonight.

The football team plays John I. Leonard High School Friday at 7 p.m.
