Meet Martin County Sheriff's newest drug detection K-9, Oscar

MARTIN COUNTY, Fla. - The Martin County Sheriff's Office has a new crime fighting family member.

Sheriff William Snyder will swear in Martin County Sheriff’s newest drug detection K-9, Oscar. 

The 2-year old Springer Spaniel will receive his badge, and official law enforcement credentials.  K-9 Deputy Oscar will then immediately report for duty.

Oscar was born in the United Kingdom, but trained in the United States. He just recently completed 80-hours of drug detection school with his new partner/handler.  Oscar is certified to detect narcotics such as heroin, crack cocaine, MDMA, and more.

The ceremony will take place at the Martin County Sheriff’s Office, Friday at 10:45 a.m. in the uniform patrol briefing room.
