Roy Danny Wingo: Pasco County substitute teacher accused of molesting young children

NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. - A Pasco County substitute teacher has been arrested on multiple counts of lewd and lascivious battery.

Deputies arrested Roy Danny Wingo on Friday.  He is accused of molesting two victims more than 50 times, the last time occurring in 2012.

Officials said the victims were between the ages of 11 to 15 and 8 to 9 when the molestation allegedly occurred.

Wingo has been fired by the school district and is currently being held in the Land O' Lakes Detention Center without bond.

"It's really crazy and sad that things like this happen," said parent Fernando Vazquez.

School leaders said none of the abuse happened on school property.

Wingo was a full-time teacher in the Pasco County School District for more than 30 years until he retired in 2009. He started teaching as a substitute shortly after his retirement.
