Three men are still in jail, and three others out on bond, in connection with an investigation into alleged slaughter houses in the Loxahatchee area.

Three suspects appeared before a judge Wednesday.

The charges include possession of horsemeat and cruelty to animals.

All six of those arrested are linked to Loxahatchee farms accused of slaughtering horses to sell their meat, along with other acts of animal abuse.

The founder of Animal Recovery Mission, the group that launched the investigation, says he's disappointed some of the men were able to get out of jail so quickly.

"In our previous cases in other counties, the bonds were much, much higher, with very similar charges and crimes. Seeing three bond out before even going to bond court this morning, is something that I've never seen before,” said ARM Founder Richard Couto.

Couto hopes Palm Beach County will be harsher with punishments for these types of crimes in the future.
