RIVIERA BEACH, Fla. - Representatives with the Palm Beach County School board said Washington Elementary School in Riviera Beach was placed on lockdown Tuesday after a nearby shooting.

The school is located at 1709 West 30th Street, just off of North Congress Avenue.

At 12:05 p.m., Riviera Beach police said a man was shot at the intersection of West 28th Street and Avenue S.

Police said the victim, who was probably not the intended target of the shooter, was taken to a local hospital with injuries described as not life threatening.

Officers are searching a wooded area next to some nearby apartments.  A U.S. marshal is also at the scene.
