NASA releases stunning image of Messier 94 starburst galaxy from Hubble Space Telescope

(CNN NEWSOURCE) NASA has released a stunning image snapped by the Hubble Space Telescope of the "Messier 94" galaxy.

It's about 16-million light-years from Earth.

The European Space Agency says new stars are quickly forming inside the ring around the galaxy.

The ESA says the star-forming region is an unusual shape - likely caused by a pressure wave coming from the center of the galaxy.

That wave is compressing gas and dust in the outer region.

When that happens, gas starts to collapse into denser clouds. Then gravity pulls the gas and dust together, increasing both pressure and temperature until a star is born.
