PSL shooting victim, shot three times, walks to neighbor's house for help

PORT SAINT LUCIE, Fla. - It started off as a typical Monday morning for Willy Peith.

He says hours before Monday's shooting in Port St. Lucie, he saw his neighbor Sheron Thomas doing yard work.

"We saw her when we were going to church," he says. "She was at home, watering her plants and everything.

Just a few hours later, Thomas arrived bloodied and bruised at his door, which was 8 houses down the block.

"It's amazing how she made it all the way here," he says. "I guess when they walk they see where we live."

His daughter was home at the time with her sons when Thomas, who was shot three times, came stumbling to their porch.

"She was yelling at [the grandson] 'bring the phone, bring the phone!"

Thomas, as well as her daughter Anika Allen and the suspect Aundra Allen all taken to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center.

Peith says he had interactions with the suspect Allen before.

He says none of those interactions led him to believe he would be capable of this.

"We would talk about the kids, and he would show me what he's done in the backyard…very friendly."

Peith, who started his morning out with church, credits divine intervention for saving his neighbor's lives.

"I thank God my daughter was able to help her."
