NBC News is reporting that the deputy seen on video tossing a student in a classroom will be fired.
Richland County Senior Deputy Ben Fields, the school resource officer who was caught on camera violently flipping a high school student in her classroom, will be relieved of duty, sources told NBC News.
Witnesses say the student had refused to leave her desk after being asked several times.
A second student, who recorded the violent take-down, was also arrested.
South Carolina law enforcement officials have asked the FBI to conduct an independent investigation.
A news conference is set for this afternoon.
