Police in Boca Raton to test body cameras for officers

BOCA RATON - The police chief in Boca Raton wants to test body cameras on his officers.

Chief Dan Alexander plans to launch a pilot program this fiscal year. This will give police leaders a chance to see exactly how the cameras work.

The plan is to place the cameras on several officers in different specialties for a specific period of time.

Afterward, Alexander will weight the potential benefits and drawbacks before deciding whether to use them permanently.

Body cameras are small cameras attached to a person's body. Police use them to record their interactions.
