MIAMI - U.S. Customs and Border Protection at Miami International Airport said they seized more than 17 pounds of cocaine that was concealed in purses, jackets, pillows, books and brandy carried by a passenger.
Agents said the passenger's flight was arriving from Lima, Peru on Oct. 9.
Officers said they smelled a strong odor emanating from the passenger's luggage. When they examined the contents of the luggage, they discovered irregular stitching in the jackets and purses.
Inspection of those items revealed multiple black plastic packages containing a white powder, which later tested positive for cocaine.
Cocaine was later found with the other items.
The suspect, who was not named in a news release, was arrested and all of evidence was turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
