Masked man attacks woman during home invasion in Port St. Lucie

A masked man attacked a woman during a home invasion Sunday night, according to Port St. Lucie police.

Police say the victim and her husband were inside their home in the 600 block of SW McCoy Avenue when an armed, masked-man came inside around 9:30 as they watched television.

The suspect was wearing a white rubber mask, dark ball cap, long-sleeve dark shirt, white gloves and black pants.

He began yelling at the couple but the woman thought it was a prank, because of the way the man was dressed.

As a result she tried to remove his mask but, as she approached him, he hit her in the head and then he ran off, police said.

The woman received a laceration to the head and was airlifted to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center with a non-life threatening injury.

Police searched for the gunman, who has a slender build and is taller than 6 feet, but they were unable to find him.

If you have any information you are urged to call Port St. Lucie police at (772) 871-5001 or Treasure Coast Crime Stoppers at 1-800-273 TIPS.
