Former employees sue Dade Medical College over sudden firings

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla - Former employees of Dade Medical College, who were terminated without cause on October 30, when the troubled school closed its doors, have filed suit against their former employer in federal court.

According to the complaint obtained by WPTV, Dade Medical College employed 400 or more workers and therefore falls under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act.

The WARN act requires employers of more than 100 workers to provide 60 calendar-day advance notification of plant closings and mass layoffs of employees.

The former Dade Medical College employees are seeking to recover 60 days’ wages and benefits.
