West Boca couple accused of making synthetic pot in pool cabana

A West Boca couple is accused of making synthetic marijuana in their pool cabana.

William and Ann Sands are on trial after Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office investigators arrested them after raiding their home in 2013.

Investigators say the synthetic marijuana was mango, strawberry, peach and other flavors.

A man who claims he worked for the couple designing logos and testing the product took the stand on Wednesday.

"I would test it and take a cigarette puff, hold it in, wait twenty minutes and see how it impacted me," the witness James Stephens said.

But defense attorneys questioned whether the former worker is only now testifying against the couple so he will get a break on his own sentence.

The trial is expected to last several days.
