LDS church policy excludes children of same-sex couples from membership

A major policy announcement by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will exclude children living in a same sex household from being blessed as babies or baptized as members.

The decision takes place immediately and will prevent any child adopted or naturally born to wait until their 18th birthday to be baptized into the church. They must also disavow the practice of same-sex cohabitation or marriage and stop living in their parents household, according to the policy. Then a baptism would still require the approval of the church's governing First Presidency.

The announcement comes on the heels of the LDS church announcing that members participating in a same-sex marriage fall under the definition of apostasy.

The entire church policy is below.
