A rabies alert has been extended in St. Lucie County.

It was first issued last month but health officials are extending it another 60 days, after a dog tested positive for rabies.

The areas that fall under the alert include anyone living north of Prima Vista Boulevard, east of the fairgrounds, west of A-1-A and south of Indrio Road.

St. Lucie County health officials are also reminding anyone with pets to have them vaccinated against rabies.
