FORT PIERCE, Fla. - Police said two juveniles and an 18-year-old man are in custody after an early-morning attempted carjacking in Fort Pierce.

The incident occurred at 4:22 a.m. at a Race Trac Gas Station located at 5870 Okeechobee Rd.

Fort Pierce police said the suspects approached the victim at the gas station and brandished what appeared to be a handgun, demanding the driver to give them his car.

The driver stalled as he was apparently surprised by the request, forcing the suspects to abandon their plan and flee the scene in a gray Kia Optima.

The victim was not injured and notified police, providing a description of the suspects and their vehicle.

Police located the Kia Optima at 27th Street and Orange Avenue and conducted a traffic stop.

The three suspects, Stephen Foreste, 18, along with a 16-year-old boy and a 14-year-old boy, were taken into custody without incident.  Foreste is from the West Palm Beach area, said police.

While checking the vehicle, officers located a pellet gun that resembled a handgun. The vehicle had been reported stolen out of the Miami area.
