SEFFNER, Fla - A 37-year-old mother who was fatally shot inside her Seffner home Saturday morning tried calling 911 but died just as dispatchers picked up, according to family members.

Erica Gaffney was found in the bedroom of her Beechcraft Way home.

Her 18-year-old daughter told ABC Action News she discovered her mother dead.  It was previously believed Gaffney's 11-year-old son found her body and ran to neighbors to call 911.

"I got very emotional," said Frannie Keith, Gaffney's grandmother.  "Not my Erica! Not my Erica! Not my Erica!"

According to Keith, Gaffney was shot at least once in the neck and attempted calling 911 but died just as dispatchers picked up.

Dispatchers were able to trace the phone call and deputies showed up.

Gaffney's children were awakened when deputies knocked at the door.  They questioned the children about whether someone had called 911.

According to Keith, Gaffney's daughter offered to see if her mother had called.  When she walked into her mother's bedroom, she discovered the horrific scene.  Gaffney was in her bed and had succumbed to her injuries.

Deputies believe Gaffney's boyfriend, Dave Allen, was at the home at the time of the death and may have information.

As of tonight, deputies are calling Gaffney's death suspicious.

"I praise God he didn't hurt the children," Keith said.

Keith believes Allen murdered her granddaughter.

"He might be on the run, he is probably scared, but he will be caught eventually," Keith said.

Visitation for Gaffney will be held November 13 from 5-8 p.m. at Aikens Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends from 6-7p.m.

A service will be held November 14 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of College Hill.  Internment will follow at Orange Hill Cemetery.
