Recently-released numbers show firefighters responding to an alarming amount of flakka-related cases in West Palm Beach.

During any given day firefighters get called to at least 5 flakka-related incidents in a 24-hour period.

Police, who also deal with the issue, presented the numbers to commissioners Monday morning.

Police say that their officers are undergoing extra training to know how to respond and subdue these individuals.

In many cases they are in erratic states of mind.

"It's a threat to the people that are doing it. It's a threat to the public because of the way the people can act, the strength, the damage," said West Palm Beach Police Lt. Dennis Wrobbel.
