School bus catches fire in Jupiter, no injuries reported

JUPITER, Fla. -- A Palm Beach County school bus caught fire around 7:45 Wednesday morning.

Palm Beach County Fire Rescue says there were about 35 young children on board when the bus driver smelled something strange and pulled over near Hibiscus Road and Pennock Point Road in Jupiter.

Fire Rescue officials commend the driver for acting quickly and getting all of the children off the bus immediately and safely.

When firefighters arrived they saw smoke and flames coming from the back of the bus where the engine is.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The Palm Beach County School District says this was a 2012 model bus. There is no information available regarding the bus maintenance history at this time.
