WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - (AP/WPTV) -- Police say an officer responding to a battery call hit a woman with his patrol car.

West Palm Beach police were called to a disturbance around 6 p.m. Sunday at a gas station.

Officials say while pulling up to the gas station, the woman, identified as Katrina Chase, 32, of Lake Worth, ran into the road and in front of the patrol car.

Chase was taken to a nearby hospital. Police say she was in stable condition.

Officials also say the woman had been battered as the officer arrived at the scene. They say the man involved in the battery fled the scene.
