Family filing wrongful death lawsuit in fatal St. Lucie County deputy-involved shooting

FORT PIERCE, Fla. - The family of a man who was shot and killed by a St. Lucie County sheriff's deputy two years ago is expected to announce Wednesday they will file a wrongful death lawsuit.

Gregory Hill, Jr. was killed in January 2014 after deputies said Hill aimed a gun at them from his garage.

Hill, 30, was struck multiple times and died at a home on Avenue Q in Fort Pierce.

In a written statement, the family said they will file a lawsuit against Deputy Christopher Newman and St. Lucie County Sheriff Ken Mascara.
