61-year-old Orlando woman killed in Martin County crash

A 61-year-old woman from Orlando died in a wreck in Martin County on Thursday afternoon.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the crash occurred at 2:05 p.m. on SE Old St. Lucie Blvd.

Robin Anita Preston was driving a 2000 Honda Accord east on SE St. Lucie Blvd. and approaching the intersection of SE Old St. Lucie Boulevard.

FHP said Preston drove off the south shoulder of the road and struck three separate metal traffic sign posts with the front of her Accord.  She then continued back into the road.

The Accord continued eastbound on SE Old St. Lucie Boulevard and entered a private residential community.

The car then struck a large concrete post and metal gate for a private residence and came to a rest facing east.

Preston was pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
