Palm Beach Day Academy students package food for needy

Volunteers were busy Sunday helping to reduce hunger in Palm Beach County.

Palm Beach Day Academy students and volunteers turned into an assembly line of helpers in an effort to feed thousands of families.

When they heard one in six children across the county face hunger daily, they wanted to make a difference.
They packaged lentils, rice and other food items for families in need.

“Have them continue to think about how fortunate they are not to worry about their next meal 44 and to do something about it,” said Palm Beach Day Academy director Cynthia Kanai.

“I know I'm extremely lucky I thank God for that and some kids aren't as lucky as me when I get to help them you always have to take that chance,” said sixth-grade student Harrison Fisher

Last year students and volunteers made 100,000 meals in three hours. This year  they increased it to 150,000.
