WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - This month law enforcement across South Florida will be taking part in a "Click it or Ticket" campaign in an effort to save lives.

From March 1 to March 14 officers, troopers and deputies will be on the lookout for people not wearing their seat belts.

A seat belt violation will cost drivers $30. Florida law requires all drivers, front seat passengers and anyone under the age of 18 to wear it.

Children under the age 4 must be in a child safety seat; children ages 4 and 5 must be in a child safety seat or booster seat.

The Florida Highway Patrol says buckling up is the single most effective thing you can do to protect yourself in a crash.

Seat belts reduce serious crash-related injuries and deaths by almost half.
