Alexander Lofts residents wait to get back in their homes

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - West Palm Beach, Fla----- Construction crews working through the weekend, securing the walls of an apartment building in downtown West Palm Beach. The east side of Alexander Lofts collapsed Thursday, injuring four people and displacing dozens.

From apartment to hotel, Meredith Harper, a resident at Alexander Lofts says it could be a lot worse.

"Trying to be positive."

However, waiting another four days to return home isn't ideal.

"As a dietitian, I'm really not enjoying eating out every day," says Harper.

Luckily for Ben Earhart, the Hyatt Hotel lets his dogs in. He remains optimistic for now.

"Hope that the time schedule does work out," says Earhart.

More than 70 people living at the lofts were forced out of their homes after the east side wall came crashing down. West Palm Beach city leaders say wall supports failed causing the bricks to fall.

Residents hope they are back in their homes by Wednesday at the latest.

"We are eager to get back in our apartments and get back to normal," says Harper.

City building officials are expected to inspect the building Monday. Property owners will have a better timetable once that time comes.
