Man struck by train in Delray Beach

DELRAY BEACH, Fla. - A man was struck by a train in Delray Beach Saturday night, according to the Delray Beach Police Department. 

The incident happened at 7:20 p.m. near Congress Avenue. 


Witnesses say the man appeared to be staggering as he approached the Tri-Rail tracks near Atlantic Avenue. 

The train gates were down and warning lights were flashing, police say. He was hit by the sounthbound train and was severely injured but survived the impact. 

The victim was transported to Delray Medical Center with critical injuries.
