OAKLAND PARK, Fla. – A South Florida first-grade teacher has been fired after officials say she came to work drunk last year.
The Sun Sentinel reports that the Broward County School Board fired 46-year-old Lynn Singleton on Tuesday.
An administrative complaint says the principal of Lloyd Estates Elementary spoke with Singleton Dec. 9 after another school employee reported her strange behavior.
The principal smelled alcohol on Singleton and then learned that one of Singleton's students had been injured during an unsupervised trip to the restroom.
Singleton was tested for drugs and alcohol, and breath tests showed her blood alcohol content to be 0.235 and 0.203 percent. Florida law considers a driver impaired at 0.08 percent. Singleton was reassigned until her termination.
A message left for Singleton by The Associated Press wasn't immediately returned.
