Gov. Rick Scott calls for Yale University to move to Florida to avoid possible new Conn. tax

Gov. Rick Scott wants Yale University, one of the world's most prestigious colleges, to move to Florida.

Scott, who boasts of repeated tax cuts in the state, called on the university to relocate to avoid a possible new tax on the school's endowment.

Connecticut lawmakers have proposed taxing the profits on the investments of the school's $25 billion endowment.

"With news that the Connecticut Legislature wants to unfairly tax one of the nation's most renowned university to deal with the state's budget shortfall, it is clear that all businesses in Connecticut, including Yale, should look to move to Florida," Scott said.

Yale was founded in 1701 and is the third-oldest institution of higher learning in the U.S.
