Reunion for babies cared for in WPB NICU

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- Hundreds of children born premature at a West Palm Beach hospital are reuniting with the doctors who cared for them.

More than 500 children turned out for the Annual NICU Reunion Party at Palm Beach Children's Hospital at St. Mary's Medical Center.

Once in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and considered high risk, the kids at the event are now vibrant and healthy.

Brianne Guertin's 5-month-old identical twin girls were in the NICU for at least a month after they were born.

"It's amazing," said Guerten. "I can't thank them enough. I can't thank this hospital enough. I can't thank the staff enough for taking care of my children."

St. Mary's Medical Center is a Level 3 NICU that treats more than 600 premature babies a year.

For his barmitzvah project, Max Epstein, also born premature, raised $5,000 to donate to the hospital.
