2 men wanted for scamming woman out of over $3,000 in cash in Wellington

WELLINGTON, Fla. -- Deputies are looking for two men they say scammed a woman out of over $3,000 in cash.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office says both suspects approached the victim as she walked out of a department store in Wellington.  The first man approached the woman, acting as if he was confused, and asked for her help in locating a Spanish community center. The second man approached them and injected himself into their conversation. After earning her trust, Deputies say the suspects led her to two banks where she made two withdrawals totaling over $3,000.

Suspect 1 is described as an elderly Hispanic male, nicely dressed, approximately 74-75 years old. Suspect 2 is described as short, younger Hispanic male, approximately 40-45 years old, also nicely dressed. Both men were seen driving in a newer gray SUV with a slanted back, possibly a Hyundai.

The incident occurred on March 23 at 11 a.m. The department store is located in the 13000 block of Wellington Trace in Wellington, Florida.

Anyone who can identify these suspects is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-458-TIPS.
