Investigators have released their initial report into this weekend's fatal boating tragedy on the Treasure Coast.
The brief synopsis from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said the occupants noticed water coming into their boat about a mile and a half east of Hobe Sound.
The report added that those aboard attempted to remove the water by using a bilge pump and scooping with buckets. The boat then sank and capsized throwing all 4 people on board into the water.
The occupants were able to climb aboard the capsized vessel for several hours before being separated.
3 people, including a Palm Beach County Corrections Deputy and his son, drowned.
The fourth person who survived is listed in serious condition at Martin Medical Center in Stuart.
