Gardens man arrested for murder of wife, arson

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. -Law enforcement have arrested 50-year-old David Arthur of Palm Beach Gardens and charged him with 1st Degree Murder in the death of his wife, 57-year-old Kathleen Dunleavy, as well as 1st Degree Arson.

Dunleavy's body was found after an early-morning fire at a home on 40th Terrace North on Tuesday, April 12.

After the fire was extinguished, Dunleavy's body was found.

Authorities say following an extensive investigation, it was discovered that she was brutally beaten, and that a fire was started at the rear of the home in an attempt to hide the crime.

David Arthur was arrested locally by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement with the assistance of the Palm Beach Gardens Police Department.

Arthur is being held at the Palm Beach County Jail.

All of this left neighbors like Joe Strout concerned. "It's upsetting, but this day and age you find things like this going on everywhere. You never think it could go on in your neighborhood," said Strout.
