Sources close to Corey Jones' family tell NewsChannel 5, the State Attorney is expected to make a major announcement concerning its investigation into the officer-involved shooting death of the local drummer.

A spokesperson for the State Attorney is not confirming what NewsChannel 5 has confirmed from two sources.

The development comes more than six months after Jones was shot and killed by then-Palm Beach Garden police officer Nouman Raja.

According to investigators, Jones was waiting for a tow truck after his car broke down near I-95 and PGA during the early morning hours of October 18th 2015.  That's when he was approached by Raja who was in an unmarked police car and wearing plain clothes at the time.

The shooting attracted national attention and local protests.

If a decision is announced Wednesday afternoon, attorneys for Corey Jones' family say they will hold a news conference Thursday at 8 a.m. outside the State Attorney's office.

The press release sent out to the media on Friday read only that "the State Attorney will hold an open press availability with his executive staff on Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.  It went on to say, "local media outlets are encouraged to attend for updates on certain cases."
