Officials began testing all of their equipment to make sure it's ready to go for the general election.

Martin County Elections officials tested 10 of their 85 voting machines, but every piece of equipment is tested before it goes out into the field.

While this is a routine process done before every election, Supervisor of Elections Vicki Davis said they've had more people coming forward this year wanting to make sure their vote will count for the candidate they chose.

Davis said this is a way for the public to see exactly how they prepare for the election and the security measures in place.

After the testing is complete, the machines are wiped clean before they are used for early voting and Election Day.

The elections office will also perform a post-election audit.

Early voting starts on Oct. 24 in Martin County.
