A Palm Beach County sheriff's deputy was involved in a crash early after pursuing two home invasion suspects.

PBSO says two men dressed in tactical gear/SWAT gear forced their way into a residence in Loxahatchee at about 2 a.m. Saturday. Both men wore gloves and masks and were armed with handguns.

During the incident, the homeowner returned home and confronted the suspects.

The suspects took off and the homeowner followed them.

The homeowner called 911 and advised PBSO dispatch where the suspects where headed.

Road patrol deputies and the PBSO helicopter were able to locate the suspects' vehicle and began to follow it.

Due to the suspects' high rate of speed, road patrol deputies backed away and the helicopter continued to follow them from there.

PBSO says the suspects traveled to Boynton Beach Boulevard where the driver struck a marked PBSO car.

Road patrol deputies located the suspects' vehicle and began to follow it southbound on Jog Road.

The men crashed his vehicle into a traffic sign at Woolbright and Jog roads and both suspects fled on foot.

The driver, Adam Michael Bennett, 35, of West Palm Beach, was caught by deputies in the area. PBSO has not caught the second person.

Bennett is charged with Armed Home Invasion, Impersonating a Law Enforcement Officer, Felony Fleeing to Elude Law Enforcement, Felony Hit & Run with injuries and Resisting Arrest without Violence.

The deputy is expected to be OK.
