Harrouff enters 'not guilty' plea, requests jury

MARTIN COUNTY, Fla. -- Austin Harrouff has entered a not guilty plea on two counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder.

Harrouff waived arraignment and requested a jury trial today in the death of Michelle Karen Mishcon, 53, and her husband John Stevens III, 59, of Hobe Sound on Aug. 15, 2016.

Harrouff, a graduate of Suncoast High School, was found at the scene removing pieces of Stevens' face with his teeth the night of the attack.

Harrouff told EMTs and other first responders the night the Tequesta couple was killed that he didn't have any exotic drugs in his system.

In court documents released Monday, a paramedic on scene asked Harrouff if he had taken anything, to which Harrouff replied that, "he smoked some weed and drank some alcohol."

Results from a drug test done by the FBI have not been released by prosecutors, but the Martin County Sheriff's Office said previously that Harrouff was not on cocaine, pot, or opiates the night of the crimes.
