Port St. Lucie police have confirmed that there was an officer-involved shooting in the city Friday.
The officer was not injured.
However, few other details were released by the department.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement said that it is investigating the shooting at the request of Port St Lucie police. FDLE said it did not have any additional information at this time.
The St. Lucie County Fire District says a teen was shot in Port St. Lucie Friday afternoon, but a spokesperson could not say if he incidents were related.
The shooting happened on Southwest Colleen Avenue around 2:18 p.m.
Responding fire rescue crews described the person shot as a male in his mid-teens.
He was transported to an area trauma center in critical condition.
