The Salvation Army unveiled its annual Angel Tree at the Gardens Mall Friday morning, just in time for Black Friday shoppers to stop by and participate in the program.
In Palm Beach County, the Salvation Army gives more than 16,000 toys to around 5,000 children in need every Christmas.
Angel Trees can be found at hundreds of locations across Palm Beach County. Anyone who wants to participate can pick an angel card off of one of the trees.
The cards have a child's name, age and a few toy wishes on them. Those participating are simply asked to buy the requested toys and return them unwrapped.
"Usually kids get three gifts," said Sean Davis, spokesman for the Salvation Army of Palm Beach County. "It's a wonderful way to help children who are probably going hungry. And they're kids who were probably going to go without a gift because they really don't have enough."
