FDOT to rework I-95 Southern Blvd. interchange

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- It'll be a few years before construction begins, but a traffic headache will be coming to I-95 in West Palm Beach that could last a year or two.

But before setting the plans in motion, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) wants your input.

The FDOT is looking to re-work the interchange at I-95 and Southern Boulevard.

The project will cost tens of millions of dollars and will mean a lot of back ups for a while.

The Southern Boulevard on and off ramps to and from I-95 can get busy during rush hour.

That's why planners with the FDOT say they want to get ahead of the problem.

Right now, FDOT has three potential plans that include adding flyovers, additional exit lanes, and wider bike lanes.

Anyone who lives, works, or drives in this area is asked to attend a public meeting Thursday evening to give input on the designs.

Construction on this project will likely begin in 2024.

FDOT is estimating that it could cost close to $60 million.
