Man shot after Riviera Beach verbal dispute

Police in Riviera Beach are investigating a shooting that sent a man to the hospital Wednesday morning.

Chopper 5 flew over the scene just before 7 a.m. in the 2300 block of Avenue E. and spotted at least nine police cars and crime tape in the area located west of Broadway and south of Blue Heron Boulevard.

According to a news release from Riviera Beach police spokeswoman Rose Anne Brown, a conversation between two men escalated into a verbal dispute.

The men, who police said knew each other, were talking outside of a residence when the dispute occurred.

One of the men subsequently pulled out a gun and shot the other man, who was standing at the door of the home.

The shooter then fled the scene on foot.

The victim was transported to a hospital by a family member with injuries that Brown said did not appear to be life threatening.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Riviera Beach police at (561) 845-4123 or Palm Beach County Crime Stoppers at 800 458-TIPS.
