Believe it or not - we're number 2.

According to insurance website Quote Wizard, Florida Drivers are the second best drivers in the country -

“No...no...no,” says driver Kandy Boullt. “Out of 50 states...39 maybe?”

Quote Wizard's methodology is limited -- total accidents, speeding tickets, citations, fatalities and DUI's.

While fatalities were high in Florida, the site said citations were low.

The numbers gave drivers we spoke to Friday a reason to chuckle.

But John Eckard with Greg's Body and Paint in West Palm offered a more moderate view.

“For the most part, Florida drivers in the last few years have gotten more compassionate,” he says. “I see a lot of accidents still, so I couldn't say we're second best - maybe in the top 10.”

He believes we have a long way to go to get to number 2.

“Because they don't know how to follow the simple rules of the road.” Eckard says.

Further slowing that climb to the top - uninsured drivers.

Nearly a quarter of Florida drivers have no insurance according to the Insurance Research Council.

No matter what you think of the survey, it gave everyone a chance to reflect on their own habits - and what we can all do better.

Other recent surveys of Florida drivers suggest the Sunshine State actually has the worst drivers in the country.

Another survey says I-4 in Central Florida is the most dangerous highway in the U.S..

NewsChannel 5 did try to contact Quote Wizard for comment, but we have yet to hear back.

In their study, the cities in Florida with the best drivers were Orlando, Hialeah and Miami - in that order.
